As well shown through the HBO MAX case,

Once a simultaneous release of films in VOD and a movie theater take place, It will revolutionize the whole industry.

Streaming service is being interpreted as a threat to a movie theater.

I think different.

A movie theater can take advantage of streaming service.

Why is streaming a threat to a movie theater?

It can be a huge opportunity for them to save IP expenses.

A little trick can make a different scene.

1. Downsizing & Premium Strategy

Almost all movie theaters are so damn big just like all the other theaters across the world.

New structure and size for max 10 people will be optimal. Just like Megabox Boutique Premium (for 8 people theater) in Korea.

It may save a lot of money by buying projectors and speakers for small theater than buying fews for big one.

It minimizes people issue and problems like noise, seat kicking, cell phone flashing etc.

Be a collection of private and premium theaters, to make it feel like exclusive theater rental.

2. Connectivity.

There would be a new system embodying the followings

-A smart projector connectable with user's smart phone so that a user can use his/her streaming service in the phone to play a movie

-A smart speaker sharing the same feature as above

having two above, the user will be able to choose & control the whole movie theater using a cellphone

By doing so, a movie theater can provides (1) value that streaming service cannot provide, (2) create a new service that have never existed (3) utilize the streaming platforms

most importantly, (4) can save a tone of money by saving content revenue sharing. People pay on behalf of you.

Downsizing & Connectivity are the two strategy that a cinema must execute in order for the new world.

I, VOD SUITE, saw and witnessed the future and am already working on.

VOD SUITE contains the following features

(1) Streaming Service + Movie Theater with smart device as a remote controller

(2) User uses a his/her streaming platform ID/PW to play a movie she/he wants

(3) User can watch Netflix, Disney +, HBO MAX, Amazon Prime TV, Hulu and etc.

(5) Price will be charged hourly

(6) 0 expenses for a movie or content because users directly pay to Netflix on behalf of you.

Our business model will be the beginning of the new cinema.

Streaming platforms should also re-consider their jurisdiction over offline distribution, just like a movie theatre for OTT original movies.

Online streaming and Offline theater will be combined in the future

How It Started

There are few interesting facts regarding VOD/OTT trend.

(1) People spend more time on YouTube than TV

(2) In Nov 2019, Netflix subscriber was 200M.  In May 2020  it hits 736M users. (Korean users only)

(3) Disney+ launch in Korea

(4) Their own content (ex: Netflix original, YouTube original)

It all proves a potential in the VOD/OTT field.

The players in the VOD/OTT market show overlapping ongoing moves, which is to have internal content development as a competitiveness enhancing strategy.

It is slowing moving toward to 'license-production work' from license-acquisition work. The graphs will eventually interact one day. There may not be another interaction.

Reading their future, those who were selling 'consumed movies' will eventually become 'new content' seller.

The new content will need 'a new theater'

Great content needs great facility

The following points reflect the future of VOD/OTT field.

(1) Time spent on YouTube exceeded TV

(2) Netflix's investment on internal content

(3) Other big player's market penetration including Disney’s Hulu M&A, Amazon’s movie theater M&A, and more

(2) & (3) infers that, the focus of the players is moving toward internal content development.

It is to add license-production work on to license-acquisition work.  Among the two works, there will only be one intersection. Put easily, once a number of Netflix original series exceed non-Netflix content, It may stay as it is permanently.

The players(Netflix, Amazon TV) will be producers sharing same distribution method(mostly online or mobile).  Obviously, the differentiation will be the content concept.

Online distribution gives great accessibility but given limited size of mobile devices and TV, it fails to deliver the vivid and dynamic feeling that a movie theater provides.

Being 'FOR-VOD OFFLINE DISTRIBUTOR' (FVOD) who can simultaneously deliver cinematic feeling and advantages of mobile convenient features can solve a big problem in the VOD field.

FVOD can bring the game-changing value to the table if well coordinated with stakeholders.

What resembles FVOD the most is a 100% wireless home theater employing miracast technology.

FVOD can maximize the following advantages while mitigating the downsides below.

Advantages.

(1) Watch what you want at your convenience with people you want

(2) Complete control over content (pause, play, selections, sound control, etc) & conveniences including F&B, sofa, freedom to talk loud and more

(3) Cinematic feeling

Downsides.

(1) Limited new releases- new movies are only available at a cinema

(2) Affordability - need a big house and high construction cost

Time will mediate (1) as VOD/OTT players are working hard on internal content development.

The Oscar winning content will appear more and more as it goes by.

(2) is a big barrier for individual while it is a big opportunity for entrepreneurs. It's their chance to solve people's problem.

---

FVOD will be  'A SHARED-HOME THEATER' where you can rent it on hourly basis.

The concept is simple, just like the shared-office building, you build one and rent it partially on hourly basis.

Things including technical features, connectivity, compatibility, interior architecture to embody the idea are not so difficult tasks for us.

The only concern is people's reaction.

Will people use it?

It is worth taking a risk to find the answer.

Title: The new distribution channel can solve the problem

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/steven-spielberg-wants-netflix-barred-from-oscars-contention/

It seems like Steven Spielberg's perspective on Netflix is basically a TV movie and thus do not deserve an Oscar.

Different interpretation to his statement is that,

The means of content distribution matters over the content itself.

Then wouldn't it be the best to make it play on both?

One may say a current cinema is not suitable for VOD.

Then making one will solve the 2 problems.

Title: The details of FVOD

---

FVOD is a 100% wireless home theater employing miracast tech.

On top of existing home theater features, it is to add wireless function.

Put simply, tablet screen is transmitted through the projector in the theater without USB, HDMI, laptop or any wire.

Basically, one tablet that is connected with projector, speaker, lighting and etc is all it needs.

It won't require more than giving that tablet to a user with brief instruction.

When the user plays video on YouTube, Netflix or related VOD, the video will be played on 3,500cm screen in the theater.

While watching the video, he/she can control volume, lighting, texting as well.

The differences in user's side will be (1) wireless function, (2) bigger screen, (3) possible to rent on hourly basis

Although making it in practice won't be that easy, it does not take rocket science.

If our FVOD model  (VODBOXES) happens to be successful, there must be a load of benchmarkers.

On the surface, when it comes to doing same business, a scale seems to matter a lot. It is partially true but It is not the end of the game.

When Blockbuster and Netflix were both selling DVDs on online, one failed and one succeeded.

Title: Right Market?

---

Vodboxes is suitable for high density cities where high rises are concentrated.

Instead of countries including US and Canada where home theater is relatively common,

Countries in Asia like Korea, Japan, Singapore are the ones.

Few research suggests that people in Asia are more into smartphone use, tech-savvy, faster in tech adaptation and more.

It should start in Korea then considering the owner's competency and existing assets.

Title: It is a collection of technology

100% wireless home theater and control system should have following features in order to give completely new experience to a user.

-White wall (least 3500 x 5000)

-mobile content delivery/control system

-mobile lighting control system

-mobile blind control system

-mobile sound control system

-mobile customer service system

-mobile temperature control system

=> Basically, a user should be able to do everything using one tablet in the theater.

The world in 2019 is the connected world, where IoT being commoditized, product specification includes connectivity,
